KOLA LITHIUM PROJECT
Kola Lithium Project
The Kola Lithium Project is located on Finland’s central-west coast, approximately 60km inland from the Port of Kokkola, and is 111.9 km² in area.
Kola is contiguous with Sibanye-Stillwaters’ €588m Keliber project which has a resource of 17mt @ 1.02% Li2O. This is currently under construction, with a Lithium Refinery at Kokkola which will have spare capacity.
Assay results from 68 pegmatite boulders from North to South across the central part of the Kola permit yielded excellent results:
- 52 out of 68 boulder samples contained more than 1.0% Li2O
- 27 samples contained more than 2% Li2O
- The highest Li value of 5.26% Li2O was observed in sample KL0084
- Samples all along the same trend that hosts the Keliber Li-pegmatite deposits
Modelling suggest there are 12-17 ‘boulder fans’ suggesting the boulders lie less than 2km from the pegmatitic source in a South-South-East direction, pointing to a source within the Köyhäjoki permit within Kola. Results of a Ground Penetrating Radar field survey at the Kola project show the presence of bedrock less than 11 metres below surface.
RMC already has a reservation permit and has recently been granted an exploration permit for Köyhäjoki, where drilling is to commence soon. RMC is anticipating a permit for the Pikkukalio permit shortly.
